The Surf Spot,

“Playa Kanoa” (Originally Canoa) is located on the north shore east side of the island. Due to it’s natural positioning, this spot offers nice and mellow waves throughout the year. Don’t be scared of it’s rough & rocky surroundings. The bottom is nice and flat with some cracks here and there, but no scary caves! The clarity of the water is amazing and if you’re lucky, you might spot “Bob”, our local green turtle poking out from time to time. This spot is amazing for your first class and also suitable for more advanced surfers.

Our great story begins with a passionate youngling who discovered the incredible world of surfing through the famous 80’s movie “North Shore”. Riding the waves one day was a dream that eventually became a reality for Danny M. in December of 2016 in Haleiwa, North Shore Oahu, Hawaii. A true paradise destination for many.
Since then he continued learning from the legendary local surfer, a mentor and the exclusive shaper of the island who tragically passed away in 2019:

Danny M. is a pure local bred surfer and freediver, who teaches his favorite two hobbies passionately to gentle souls who want to enjoy the water element both above or below. Papiamentu is Curacao’s official language, and this is his primary and main communication method. He is also fluent in English, Dutch and Spanish. In his daily professional life, he works as an Air Traffic Controller, guiding planes safely to and from the island.
He also loves skateboarding and is a goofy rider. He surf’s longboards, shortboards and mid-lengths, the last being his favorite all around to go boards for average ocean conditions.
His loving wife is his number one supporter. Besides her, his many amazing friends form part of his family together with his cats and dogs 🐾
